Postural Restoration

In short, Postural Restoration is a forward-thinking method that understand and corrects the natural differences in our bodies, helping you move better and stay healthy.

What is it?

Postural Restoration® is a therapeutic approach developed by the Postural Restoration Institute® (PRI) that focuses on understanding and addressing the body's inherent asymmetries to improve posture, movement, and overall function. Recognizing that the human body is not symmetrical—considering differences in neurological, respiratory, circulatory, muscular, and vision systems between the left and right sides—PRI aims to balance these natural imbalances through specific interventions.

How Postural Restoration Helps

Central to this approach is the concept that posture reflects patterned airflow, which in turn indicates the position and function of various body systems. When these systems are not functioning in an alternating and reciprocating manner, it can lead to restricted movement patterns, improper joint and muscle positioning, and compensatory neuromotor activities. These compensations often result in limited functional rotation and contribute to musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.

What is Musculoskeletal Pain?

Musculoskeletal pain refers to the pain that affects the muscles, bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments. It is a common condition that can cause significant discomfort and interfere with daily activities.

Symptoms Can Be:

  • Aching or throbbing pain.
  • Stiffness.
  • Swelling.
  • Redness.
  • Weakness.
  • Limited range of motion.
  • Pain that worsens with activity.

Working With Evan Condry

As a Physical Therapist with training in Postural Restoration®, Evan Condry seeks to identify these imbalances and restore through both manual and non-manual therapeutic techniques. These interventions are designed to:

  • Reposition
  • Re-train
  • Restore proper function to the body's musculoskeletal system

Thereby improving movement efficiency and reducing pain.
